Blogbar: Latest Sabeer Bhatia Muse

Hotmail founder, Sabeer Bhatia, has started an Internet-based toolbar called Blogeverywhere.com which promises to enhance the functionality and speed of Hotmail and allow users to post comments on any website in the world.

The idea for the toolbar was conceived in the US, and it was developed by Pune-based KPIT Infosystems.

Bhatia said that there had been no significant development in Hotmail for the past ten years, and that the new tool addresses this problem. Commenting on how blogging has increasingly evolved as an important tool in the dissemination of information across the globe, Bhatia said Blogeverywhere.com would enhance users' online experience with a multi-purpose, browser-based toolbar.

Upon downloading the new toolbar - the blogbar, it will enable users write their opinions directly on Web pages being browsed, as also search for and read other people's comments on any topic on Blogeverywhere.com.

The Blogeverywhere toolbar features two buttons - write and read. The write button opens a small window within the browser, wherein users can add their comments related to the Web page visited. The read button allows other visitors to the site to read the message.

The new tool will allow users to search the Web using search engines of their choice.

Blogbar is designed to download messages to the user's PC when the internet connection is idle, so as to help users access these messages sans the need for the browser to go to the US-based server. Users can delete email messages from their desktops once they sign-out of Hotmail.

Bhatia said that a 50-strong team has been working on the toolbar for the last two years. According to Bhatia, end users will not have to bear any part of the revenue burden as revenue generation would depend on advertisements.
